This kid friendly hotel in Bangkok has been on my review list for quite a while. I was waiting for the right price because the Mövenpick BMDS Wellness Resort is a 5 star hotel.
After living in Bangkok for 20 years, it’s always fun to have these little staycations. As a father these days, I need to find a Bangkok hotel where my daughter can also have fun. However, I typically look forward to the hotel’s breakfast buffet spread.
So in this post, you’ll find out what your family might be interested in at Mövenpick BMDS Wellness Resort. As well as what you can expect at the hotel’s breakfast buffet. Yes, there are plenty of pictures.
Let’s go!
THE LOCATION
Bangkok’s Mövenpick BMDS Wellness Resort is located on the northern end of Wireless Road. Right around the neighborhood of Ploen Chit, where many embassies are located.
The nearest shopping centers are Central Embassy (10 minute walk) and Central Chidlom (15 minute walk). The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service that’ll take you to Central Chidlom every hour from 9 am to 9 pm.
From Central Chidlom, you’ll find Chidlom BTS Sky Train station. From there, take the elevated trains to Siam Paragon, MBK Mall, or even all the way to Chatuchak Weekend Market.
There’s not much in the immediate area. It’s mostly a residential area with commercial businesses. Overall, it’s quiet around the hotel property. Which is what Mövenpick is going for.
A quiet place to relax and rejuvenate.
If old style Thai teak homes fascinate you, Nai Lert Park Heritage Home, which is a 3 minute walk from the hotel, might be a museum you could enjoy.

Bangkok’s Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort
BDMS standards for Bangkok Dusit Medical Services. Just wanted to explain, cause you’re probably wondering what that means. Basically, there’s this holistic medical facility attached to the hotel.
There is an overall theme of emphasis on health and relaxation on this property.
Still, this hotel is perfect for families that need spacious rooms. Particularly families with children under 8 years of age. I’ll get to that later.
First, here’s a quick room tour.
Deluxe Room, King Size Bed, City View (Room 529)

Deluxe rooms are the basic room type. I paid $167 USD with breakfast for 2 adults and 1 child. I just randomly checked some prices for the upcoming month of May on a weekday. I found the same room type for $10 USD cheaper.
Though I have seen rates go up as high as $250 USD – $300 USD during the high season in Thailand (November to late March). Lucky I found a good price even in high season by booking on Agoda.com.
The room was clean and spacious at 38 square meters. There’s a large television with cartoon channels lined up. Although, for some reason, the signal for the TV kept lagging. I think they’re still using satellite.
It was a bit annoying. But the Wi-Fi was fast, mainly because the internet router was right inside the room. Each room has its own dedicated router is a nice added touch.

The king size bed was one of the best I’ve slept in. It was comfortable yet a little firm for back support. Pillows were excellent, too. Though if you are the picky type the have a menu with many different types of pillows you can select from.
There’s a master room light control panel by the bed. With plenty of traditional power sockets as well as USB power ports.
And finally, a real work desk with a desk lamp and a comfortable chair.
This hotel only has 5 floors. We got a city view, which wasn’t much, but I can’t complain. There are rooms with a pool view. Which I’m sure costs a bit more.
Speaking of swimming pool…

It’s not large. There are many chairs to lounge in, but it’s a large hotel. While we were there, we didn’t experience any overcrowding. I never had a problem finding chairs.
The water is clean, and there’s a kiddie pool section perfect for toddlers to wade in.

I am not a gym rat. But if I were, I would say the Movenpick missed out on an opportunity.
I walked around the hotel property. It is massive. For a property that emphasises health and vitality. I think their fitness center could be bigger. They definitely got the space for it.

You can’t really tell from the outside the scale of Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok. This property has 211 rooms. With room sizes ranging from single 38 square meters to multi bedroom 99 square meters suites.
It’s a massive property in the heart of Bangkok.
Fun for Young Children
As I mentioned before, I have a daughter. She’s 5 years old now, so part of my thought process when researching where to stay is whether or not the hotel has an indoor playground.
Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok has two. The first one is located near the main lobby.

The second playroom is located right by the hotel’s restaurant, where the breakfast buffet takes place.

Placing a small playground near the restaurant is a great idea. It’s great for kids 8 years and under.
Since kids don’t really eat much food, they can run around to their little hearts’ content. While the grown ups can indulge in a good breakfast.
Both playrooms are small. But for toddlers, it’s big with plenty of toys to play with.

Speaking of Breakfast
With the words “Wellness Resort” attached to this hotel, you’d think they only serve egg whites, tofu, and nuts. Which they do.
But there’s a lot of very good food inside, just done healthily.

But if you’re not into that super health kick diet, you can get all sorts of nasty with good ol’ crispy bacon and real pork sausage.
You can balance it all out with fresh fruits, salads, and freshly squeezed juice made to order.

Ain’t gonna lie, their mixed salads look really appetizing. And there’s so much variety.
They have homemade yogurt and an egg station, so you can order whatever style of eggs you want.

There’s a lot of space inside with plenty of seating spread out. You don’t feel like you’re sitting shoulder to shoulder too close to other guests.
There are plenty of very friendly servers who can help take your orders and clear tables.

They make some tasty hummus, babaganoush, and some other things I can’t remember. It was so good that if I wasn’t too full, I’d go for seconds. That dish above brought me back to that time I was in Qatar.
I only stayed for one night. But if I stayed a few more days, I think I wouldn’t get bored with the food.

Conclusion
Checking in was easy; I was greeted by a very friendly and enthusiastic member of their check in team. There’s even a nice, refreshing welcome drink.
Bangkok’s Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort requires a 2000THB security deposit, which is refunded during checkout.
Check in time is 2 pm, which coincides with their chocolate buffet until 3 pm.

Our room wasn’t ready at 2 pm. So my daughter and I hung around the chocolates for 30 minutes when the desk manager handed us our room cards.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this Mövenpick hotel in Bangkok. It felt like a true 5 star resort experience. I highly recommend!
