Spacious Rooms – Perfect for Families Visiting Bangkok for First Visit
One of the joys of living in Bangkok is that I often get to take my family out for a staycation. I’ve always loved exploring and staying in hotels since I was a young wayfarer. And my growing little girl is sharing that same passion for exploring.
Bangkok Hotel Rooms
In general, older properties in Bangkok have larger rooms. Newer hotels built in the last 5 to 8 years are more compact.
Never overlook hotels built a decade or two ago. Many are managed properly, renovated, and retrofitted periodically by international or Thai hotel chains.
Is it Expensive?
Hotel rates in Bangkok are considered affordable compared to those in the West and East Asian nations. The value proposition is outstanding in terms of both service and quality.
I still have nightmares from that time I stayed at a $100 USD hotel, 10 years ago, back in NYC. Never again.
That said, the Bangkok hotels I list below are in the moderate price range. Because larger rooms, big swimming pools, and onsite playgrounds equal pricer room rates.
If you find the price reasonable, I highly recommend staying in these hotels, especially for your first family trip to Bangkok.
Grande Centre Point Prestige Bangkok ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Grande Center Point Prestige Bangkok was newly opened in 2025. Grande Centre Point is a Thai owned hotel chain, and I’ve stayed in many of their properties over the years.
Located in the heart of Siam Square, which is essentially central Bangkok. In easy walking distance to a few of Bangkok’s iconic shopping centers.
- Mahboonkrong Shopping Centre (MBK)
- Siam Discovery / Siam Paragon Mall
- Siam Square One
Just a short walking distance to many other malls and a few tourist attractions like Jim Thompson House Museum and Bangkok Museum of Contemporary Arts (MOCA).
The city’s elevated Sky Train system has two stations, a few hundreds meter walk. So you can easily travel most of central Bangkok.
With all the shopping centers filled with activities and restaurants. This hotel shines particularly for children because of their on location Kid’s Play Club!
Plus, there’s a huge fitness centre and swimming pool for adults. You don’t even have to go out.
Great location with very good room space. Their standard rooms are about 45 square meters. So not just plenty of space but a very modern room with a bathtub.
Bathtubs are becoming a rarity in hotels in Bangkok. Just mentioning this cause my daughter loves taking baths instead of showers.
The Grande Center Point Prestige Bangkok is a terrific hotel. I know you’ll love it!

Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If traveling with older children, perhaps a playground is not necessary. Or perhaps they enjoy working out and running. Which this property has on site.
Movenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok is the perfect hotel with big rooms. Their standard rooms are 38 square meters. But there 1 bedroom family rooms are 78 square meters.
With interconnecting rooms as well to maximize space for really large groups of traveling families.

Pricewise, the Mövenpick is somewhat cheaper than the Grand Centre Point Prestige.
And you get more large room types to choose from. Which, of course, adds to the room rate. For tight knit families, it makes sense to book a large room rather than 2 or 3 hotel rooms.
Location wise, it is in Central Bangkok. The nearest Sky Train station is about a 300 meter walk. Though getting a taxi for farther away places is recommended.
The hotel does have a shuttle service to take you to shopping centers as well. This is another fantastic hotel!
