On my last two week trip to Kuala Lumpur, I also stayed in the Ceria Hotel in Bukit Bintang. Bukit Bintang is a very popular tourist area in the city. As a matter of fact, Bukit Bintang is the tourist center. So there are many mid and high end hotels in the area.

I like to tell people Bukit Bintang is like the Times Square of NYC.

Before checking in at the Ceria Hotel, I stayed at the Momo Kuala Lumpur Hotel, located in the Chow Kit neighborhood. You can check out my Momo Hotel review here.

If You Want to Really Experience Bukit Bintang

And want to stay in a nice, clean hotel environment. But most importantly, save money. I highly recommend the Ceria Hotel.

Ceria Hotel is within walking distance to a few KL Monorail Stations: 1)Imbi Station and 2) Huang Tuah.

So you can easily take the train to KL Sentral. And take the airport bus or ride the KLIA Ekspres train to the airport fast.

Why the Ceria Hotel?

There are lots of hotels in Bukit Bintang, from low to high end. The Ceria Hotel is in the Goldilocks zone for me.

It’s easy walking distance to Bukit Bintang, about 10 minutes. So I have a wide variety of choices for food, coffee, and a little bit of window shopping.

The closest shopping center is the Berjaya Times Square. A popular place, mostly for locals, with restaurants. There’s even an indoor amusement park and restaurants. A good place for families.

Most importantly, the Ceria Hotel is affordable. I stayed for three nights, and it cost $25.40 USD per night, including taxes. As usual, I booked through Agoda.com for the best rates.

How’s the Room?

I booked an executive room with a queen sized bed and a street view. Again, it only cost me $25 USD, and I was staying alone. That’s a terrific price, because the room quality is very good.

The room size is 12 square meters. Which is plenty of space even for two people and some luggage. The bathroom is a decent size with a rainshower head and hot water.

Bathroom with a bidet, but it’s a weird style of bidet. Not going to go into that too much lol! There’s a large sink, it’s well lit and ventilated.

Towels were clean, no weird stains or funny smells. I hate the funny smells the most.

The bed is a bit firm. But easy to get a good night’s rest. Pillows are just fine. I don’t know how else or what else to describe lol, but you get the picture. It’s clean, so no complaints as well.

There is an adequate number of power sockets that will work with international plugs on the desk. With USB power ports.

Another power socket next to the bedside. For that one, you’ll need a plug adapter as it’s a local power outlet.

The Wi-Fi internet access was fast. There’s a flat screen television, but there’s nothing to watch. It’s mostly local news and music.

There’s no swimming pool and no fitness center. That’s why it’s a single star hotel. Otherwise, the location is terrific. Hotel staff are friendly. Even though I paid $25 USD per night, I wouldn’t mind paying $35 USD a night.

Again, it’s clean. Service is friendly, and the location is really good. I recommend the Ceria Hotel!
