Affordable Perfect Stays For Your First Thailand Visit
Staying in Bangkok’s Chinatown is the perfect choice if you’re looking to experience Thailand’s old-world charm and ambiance. It’s not as modern as central Bangkok with tall office buildings and super malls.
Yet comfortable enough with nearby Metro stations, authentic Thai and Chinese restaurants, some local bars, and nearby attractions like temples and the Grand Palace.
And let’s not forget Bangkok’s famous street food!
So I’ve come up with a short list of hotels around the neighborhood of Yaowarat Road, which is the lifeline of Bangkok’s Chinatown!

Of course, Bangkok is more than that. You’ve got quaint alleyways dotted with local shops and businesses run by generations.
In a way, it hasn’t totally lost its “Thainess” and that’s exactly what you’d want to experience on your first trip to Bangkok.
Why I Recommend Chinatown, Bangkok
Central Bangkok is where most foreign tourists stay out of convenience. Or more exactly, because it’s familiar with plenty of shopping malls, restaurants, and especially hotels.
From any of the hotels recommended here, you can easily visit:
- The Grand Palace
- Wat Pho
- Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn)
- Asiatique The Riverfront
- Little India
- Khao San Road

You don’t want to miss out on the night market that opens up right on Yaowarat Road, from 5 pm to midnight, every day. But do note that there are fewer hawker stands on Monday.
